The Volunteer Program is an exchange program, free of charge.

Once your application is received, an interview date will be set up with you. If all goes well we will allocate very comfortable Cloister accommodations for your participation in the Volunteer Program.

BODHI KHAYA VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

Our Volunteer Program is a special opportunity to serve, to work with the land, to learn (or deepen) the art of meditation practice, and rejuvenate in the clean air and wilderness of Bodhi Khaya. We will explore the boundaries between self and other, between the domesticated and the wild, between the sacred and mundane. We will find and open the gates to wholesome communication, compassion and community. Our newly initiated reforestation project in this beautiful valley will beckon to your hands and hearts, inviting you to reforest earth and self.

WHAT YOU’LL RECEIVE

Meditation Instruction with spacious opportunity to practice in sanctuary. GUIDED MINDFULNESS TRAINING. Hospitality & Service. INTRO TO PERMACULTURE. Community Living. HEALTH AND WELLNESS RETREATS. IN EXCHANGE FOR

36 hours per week (6 hours per day) of mindful labour in gardening, housekeeping, maintenance, kitchen, landscaping, retreat preparation and hosting. All tasks are simple, easily grasped, and require physical ability as we work the land and perform daily housekeeping functions.

PLEASE BE

Self-motivated, alcohol & drug free. A stable couple or single person. Curious. Conscious. Kind. A Good listener and communicator. Socially engaged. Deep interest in land, earth based spirituality, meditation and conscious living. Environmentally ethical. Open to learning new approaches to health and well-being. Able to work diligently and follow simple instructions. Willing to tell and create your new story. Bring your songs and a musical instrument if you have one!

ON A NOT SO LITTLE PIECE OF HEAVEN

2 Hrs from Cape Town and Cape Agulhas. In one of the world’s most diverse and species rich floral kingdoms. Wildlife, birds, flowers, reptiles galore! Min from Stanford and Gansbaai, with Hermanus another 20min down the road. Southern Right and Humpback whales just 10 min away. In the heart of the Walker Bay Nature Conservancy. Under billions of stars. With fresh, clean air & an abundance of delicious mountain spring water. Hiking trails. Swimming in ponds, pools, and ocean. And a fully stocked library and best reading/relaxing porch south of the Zambezi!

9am – 12am    Mindful Work

12am – 1pm     Lunch

1pm – 2pm      Rest Practice

5pm – 6pm     Meditation Instruction

6pm – 7pm     Dinner

7pm – 10pm    Personal/Instructional Time

10pm – 7am    Noble Silence

  • able to engage in an additional month exchanging your leadership and responsibility with new incoming volunteer program participants
  • invited to join our training intensive through our BORN as the EARTH Mystery School – (a work / study mentorship program) – free and inclusive for Volunteer Program participants

The program can only accommodate an intimate group. We will be living and working and healing in community and therefore ask all applicants to complete a detailed application.
